What the platforms do not fix

  • Signing. A will still needs signatures and witnesses, and in Nigeria the platforms we reviewed say it is lodged in court by you.
  • Banks and pensions. The next of kin on a bank form is a contact, not an heir. Families still need probate or letters of administration, and the process is slow.
  • Staying current. Wills and next-of-kin records go stale when someone dies, moves or changes phone numbers.

If you work at a bank, insurer or registrar, see next-of-kin and inactivity APIs. Entrustt keeps a consented next-of-kin register and runs inactivity checks for institutions, not individuals.

Common questions

Can I make a will online in Nigeria?

You can prepare one with an online service, but the platforms we found say you still sign it physically with witnesses. Seedwills’ CEO told Nairametrics in October 2026 that Nigeria does not yet accept digitally signed wills. Check the rules for your state with a lawyer.

Does naming a next of kin at my bank pass on my money?

Generally no. Banks use next of kin as a contact person. They usually need probate or letters of administration before releasing funds.

Are there platforms that also work for the diaspora?

Remayn is built for Africa and the diaspora. Check any platform’s coverage for the countries you and your family live in.
