A fintech user who stops logging in is not always lost. They may have switched apps, lost a phone, fallen ill or died. Here is how to set inactivity triggers that tell these cases apart, and the tools that run them.

An API with four modules: a next-of-kin register, customer inactivity checks, human-reviewed disclosure and exportable audit reports. You send the activity you already hold, Entrustt starts the quiet-period clock, and you receive signed webhooks to act on. It handles information, never money.
- Delivery
- REST API with signed webhooks. Sandbox keys on request.
- Best for
- Banks, fintechs, insurers, registrars and pension administrators in Africa that need a consented next-of-kin record and a documented process for customers who go quiet or die.
- Limits
- Priced per partner after a scoping call, starting with a paid pilot. It does not move money, and disclosure is reviewed by a person.

Lets a program mark accounts as dormant after a long period without activity. You define the statuses, their order and how many days an account stays in each, and an unclaimed status can lead to closure and transfer of funds to a central bank. Dormant accounts accept only bank-initiated transactions.
- Delivery
- Configuration API in Pismo’s developer platform.
- Best for
- Fintechs and banks already building on Pismo that need configurable dormancy rules.
- Limits
- A rules engine for account status. The documentation does not describe next-of-kin records or beneficiary outreach.

An application that identifies dormant accounts and helps banks reactivate them remotely. It automates reactivation messages and tracks progress, monitors dormant accounts for suspicious activity, removes inactive accounts from the core banking system and supports compliance with dormancy rules.
- Delivery
- Listed on the Temenos solution provider marketplace. Deployment and pricing are not described.
- Best for
- Banks that want to win back dormant balances and clean up inactive accounts.
- Limits
- Focused on reactivation and housekeeping. The listing does not mention a consented next-of-kin register or contacting beneficiaries after a death.

What happens when a fintech user goes silent?
Without a plan, nothing. The account sits idle, any balance stays put, and the company never learns whether the user left, lost access or died. With a plan, a quiet-period clock starts, the user is contacted, and a named person is contacted if the user cannot be reached.
What is an inactivity trigger?
A rule that fires when a signal stops, for example no login or transaction for a set number of days. The rule starts the next step, such as a reminder, a second channel or a review.
How long should the quiet period be?
It is your decision, and it depends on the product, the customer and the rules that apply to you. Pismo’s dormancy setup, for example, lets you define each status and how many days an account stays in it.
Are fintechs covered by dormant account rules?
It depends on the licence and the product. The CBN guidelines in Nigeria are described as applying to banks and other financial institutions. Ask your counsel which rules cover your products.
What if the user has died?
Inactivity alone does not prove that. A good process contacts the user first, then the people they named with their consent, and sends any disclosure to a person for review before it goes out.
Why is Entrustt listed first?
Its solution for banks and fintechs is about reaching customers who went quiet. It starts the clock from activity you already hold, keeps the next-of-kin register and logs what happened.
