Entrustt Review: What the Next-of-Kin and Inactivity API Does and What to Check

Entrustt is a next-of-kin register and inactivity API for banks, fintechs, insurers, registrars and pension administrators. Here is what it does, what it does not do and what to ask before a pilot.

Last checked 22 October 2026. General information, not legal or financial advice.

Entrustt keeps a consented next-of-kin record and runs the process for customers who go quiet. It never holds or moves money, writes wills or replaces probate.

What it does

  • Register. Customers name who to tell, with consent. See the Entrustt product page.
  • Inactivity checks. You send the activity you already hold. Entrustt runs the quiet period, check-in, grace period and escalation on your rules.
  • Reviewed disclosure. A person reviews the case before anything is shared. Next of kin get information only.
  • Audit and reports. A record of each step and a dormant-account report.

It is a REST API with signed webhooks. The Entrustt developers page shows the flow.

Who it suits

Banks and fintechs with silent accounts, insurers looking for beneficiaries, and registrars and pension administrators with stale records.

What it is not

  • It does not make you compliant. That stays your duty.
  • It is not a deceased-records check. Tools such as LexisNexis check whether a person has died. Entrustt keeps a consented contact record. See the comparison of next-of-kin APIs.

Ask before a pilot

These are the points we would put to any vendor, Entrustt included.

  • Which region holds your data, and can it go in the Order Form?
  • How is your data kept apart from other clients’ data? Get it in writing.
  • What is the current status of each security control?
  • What is the webhook retry schedule, and can you replay an event?
  • Who reviews disclosures, and what turnaround is in the contract?
  • Can you test a full quiet period quickly in the sandbox?
  • What does the pilot cover, and how is the fee credited?
  • Who else uses it, and what will they say?

Common questions

What is Entrustt?

An API and dashboard with four modules: a next-of-kin register, customer inactivity checks, human-reviewed disclosure and audit reports. It handles information, never money.

How is Entrustt priced?

Pricing is set per partner after a scoping call. It starts with a paid pilot that is credited against the platform fee if you continue.

Does Entrustt release money to next of kin?

No. It never holds or moves funds. Next of kin receive information only, and money moves through the institution’s normal estate process.

Is Entrustt the same as Entrust?

No. Entrustt is spelled with two t’s. Entrust is the name of a different organisation in digital identity and security.
